Artist Bio

A Godahl, Minnesota native, Mya Hanson is a junior at Gustavus Adolphus College double majoring in English and Studio Art with a minor in Music. An avid creator, she enjoys drawing and painting illustrations, along with exploring the mediums of screen printing and photography. Illustration is an outlet for her to make connections between all walks of life and let her true, imaginative–often nostalgic–concepts reach paper.

 

Mya is the 2024 recipient of the Presidential Art Award at Gustavus. She has exhibited work in various group exhibitions including the 2024 Junior Studio Art Majors exhibition at Gustavus, the 2024 Yellow Rabbit exhibition of Gustavus student and faculty work in the Centennial Student Union Gallery, the 2023 Student Juried exhibition in Schaefer Gallery at Gustavus Adolphus College, and some works at the Open Class Exhibition of the Watonwan County and the Minnesota State Fair. Her work has also been featured in the 2023 Gustavus Student Publication, Firethorne, and she has done a few mixed media commissions based on her screen print titled “Just Imagine.”
